jazz and pop music. Creative curiosity, years of road and
stage experience and interactions with performers such as

entertains and inspires.
Born and raised in

heritage, Kim and Reggie's early exposure to the diversity of
musical styles and genres was nurtured in the schools and
churches of their youth.
Audiences at venues
such as The Kennedy
Center, The

Arena in TX, the Psalm Festival in Graz, Austria, as well as a
myriad of theatre arts centers, festivals, universities and
schools, have given this inspiring duo standing ovations for

Kim is presently
pursuing a Ph.D. at Union Theological
Seminary in

September 22th - 8pm Amy
Black with Kwesi Kankam
Genuine
storytelling is a time-honored custom, passed down through
generations, shared with passion and imbued by honesty. For
singer/songwriter Amy Black, storytelling – and true Southern
tradition – is in her blood, arriving with an undeniable sense
of history, an irrepressible passion for performing, and a
whole lot of authentic soul. Black's
background is as refreshingly honest as her music. "My parents
are from Northern Alabama," Amy explains. "But my dad is a
preacher so we moved around a lot when I was a kid. I grew up
in Missouri, moved back to Alabama when I was 14, and then to
Boston when I was 16. I think part of my outgoing nature comes
from being in a different school almost every year from 13 on.
With all the changes, two things I could always count on were
singing with my family and visiting my grandparents in
Alabama."
Amy sang publicly
throughout her teens and fronted bands in college, but she did
little with her music for nearly a decade while she built a
career as a successful marketing professional. Her love for
singing, however, would not be quelled. "About four years
ago," she says, "I told myself 'it's now or
never.'"
Her success at local
open mic nights quickly led to a growing following. Before
long, Amy had put together a band of some of the area’s most
accomplished and eclectic musicians and become one of the
region’s most popular Americana acts. In 2009, her debut album
Amy Black & The Red Clay Rascals paid tribute to her
favorite songwriters while featuring two impressive originals.
"Don’t be fooled by the fact that their set list is mostly
covers," hailed The Boston Globe. "Black and her band
put their own rootsy Americana stamp on everything from
country (Emmylou Harris's "Red Dirt Girl") to soul (Bill
Withers's "Ain’t No Sunshine") to rock 'n' roll (Big Mama
Thornton's "Hound Dog"), all highlights from their new
self-titled debut." And now with her new album One
Time, the Boston-based performer takes her shot, makes a
stand and delivers one of the most evocative new Americana
discs of the year. |

October 20th - 8pm The Boxcar
Lilies with The Barn
Swallows
Since they formed in 2009, Americana trio
The Boxcar Lilies have been wowing audiences with their
standout marriage of superb songwriting and spine-tingling,
innovative harmonies. In a short time, they've garnered an
exceptional amount of attention for their music and energetic
stage presence, finding themselves playing renowned venues
like The Iron Horse Music Hall (Northampton, MA) and
Philadelphia’s Tin Angel, or opening for legendary songwriters
like Bill Staines and Lucy Kaplansky.
Based in the
Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts, The Boxcar Lilies are
Jenny Goodspeed, Stephanie Marshall, and Katie
Clarke. Each an accomplished singer-songwriter in her own
right, the three met through a local musician’s cooperative
and discovered a shared passion for three-part harmony. They
began playing together informally and in the summer of 2009,
Goodspeed invited Marshall and Clarke to join her for the
Falcon Ridge Folk Festival’s Emerging Artist showcase. They
knew then that they had something special and decided to make
it official.
Over a few beers and a plate of
nachos at a local tavern, The Boxcar Lilies were wed. Yes it
was a shotgun wedding. They married their love (read:
obsession) for great songwriting and sweet harmonies and set
out to arrange originals and some of their favorite cover
songs by the likes of Fred Eaglesmith, Neil Young, and Gillian
Welch. They recorded their debut CD Heartwood
the following summer with esteemed producer Dave Chalfant
(Erin McKeown, The Nields).
