March 27 - 8pm Tony Trischka with
Fellswoop (duo)
Tony
Trischka is perhaps the most
influential banjo player in the roots music
world. For more than 35 years, his stylings have
inspired a whole generation of bluegrass and
acoustic musicians. He was not only considered
among the very best pickers, he was also one of
the instrument's top teachers, and created
numerous instructional books, teaching video
tapes and cassettes.
"...the godfather of
what's sometimes called new acoustic
music." New
York Times
"...most influential banjo
player of the latter part of the 20th century,
certainly in terms of his profound influence on
succeeding generations of modern
players." Banjo
Newsletter
"Urban bluegrass
whiz." Time
Magazine
"Explosive banjo
playing." Boston
Globe
"One of the most
impressive banjoists
alive." Billboard

April 24 - 8pm The Burns Sisters with Jim
Steager
You can
think about the Burns Sisters in descriptive
terms - powerful songs, gorgeous sibling
harmony, a distinctive blend of folk, country
and rock styles - but their essence is spirit,
soul, if you will. Marie, Jeannie and
Annie Burns sing together and their music
follows an inner path they know by heart.
Every song is tied to the center of things, to
the everyday hunt for warmth on a cold planet,
to family and history and blood.
The
Burns Sisters sing together with the authority
and passion of a band that knows it's place and
is comfortable challenging the audience.
They present meaning with seamless melodies and
amazing vocals. Their music is filled with
warmth and conviction.

May
14 - 8pm Jill
Sobule with Jay
Lapp
Jill Sobule
belongs to a rare breed of artists. Her work is
at once deeply personal and socially conscious,
seriously funny and derisively tragic. Over five
albums and a decade of recording, the
Denver-born songwriter/guitarist/singer has
tackled such topics as the death penalty,
anorexia, shoplifting, reproduction, the French
resistance movement, adolescence, and the
Christian right. Did we mention love? Love
found, love lost, love wished for and love taken
away.
To see Jill
live and in concert is a rare treat. It is on
stage that she is most comfortable, most
powerful, and where the delicacy and range of
her work can be best appreciated. She
entertains, amuses, provokes, and more often
then not, takes her audiences on an emotional
roller coaster, from comedy to pathos in a few
bars of music.

June
26th - 8pm The
Kennedys with Loretta
Hagen
With the release of their tenth CD as The
Kennedys and recent CDs by their Strangelings
and Stringbusters side projects added to their
discography, Pete and Maura remain the Energizer
bunnies of the folk/rock world. Their touring
schedule makes Bob Dylan seem lazy -
they've played about 1500 gigs in the last 12
years, everywhere from house concerts to major
festivals. And when they're not recording,
performing, or conducting monthly guitar
workshops, they're airing their favorite music
on their "Dharma Cafe" show on SIRIUS Satellite
Radio's channel 70.
Whatever the
scenario, The Kennedys use their full palette of
vocal and instrumental colors to bring their
songs to glowing life. Maura's lead vocals range
from comforting to yearning, from girlish to
womanly, from exuberant to delicate, sometimes
bolstered by her own sweet harmonies and those
of Pete and several guests. As usual,
multi-instrumentalist Pete provides a vibrant
tapestry of chiming, jangling and twanging
guitars, as well as mandolin, keyboards, bass
and drums, interwoven with Maura's sturdy
acoustic rhythm guitar, harmonica and
glockenspiel.
"Unafraid to
mix philosophy, spirituality, love and
artistry with a folk-rock back beat is what
makes this duo a positive force on all things
human. " Folk & Acoustic
Music
Exchange
Pete will
also conduct a guitar workshop, 4-6 pm, $30 per
participant, called:
"Six techniques to
improve your guitar skills, right now!"
Seating for the workshop will be
limited, so we suggest signing up for this
early.

September 25th -
8pm Ellis with Brittany Ann
Tranbaugh
Ellis is a
rising star in the independent music scene. With
music that is described as "joyful,
unpretentious modern folk", Ellis continues to
build attention at venues and festivals
throughout the country with heart-felt songs
that reflect her sincere graciousness, vibrant
nature, and contagious sense of humor. You'll
quickly be drawn in by her warmth and real-life
journeys as reflected in her songs.
"Ellis walks
on stage, flashes a bashful grin and does what
she does best: singing her heart out every
single time." Dale Schiff, Just Out
(Portland)
"Ellis has been compared with Ani
DiFranco, Suzanne Vega, Edie Brickell, and the
Indigo Girls, but those comparisons only
approximate what she’s all about. She is funny
and smart and has a way with lyrics that makes
critics take
notice." Marlee MacLeod Mpls St

WWW.BEAUCOUPBLUE.COM Sean
Schenker |
November 27 - 8pm Beaucoup Blue with
Sean Schenker (of The
Trapps)
Philadelphia based duo
of David and Adrian Mowry, Father and son, have
been performing their music strongly rooted in
the blues, up and down the eastern seaboard.
Bridging many gaps in American music, their
soulful traditional and contemporary style mesh
into an innovative and authentic sound. Although
blues is a staple in their repertoire, they also
base their love in music from Folk, Soul,
R&B, Jazz, Country, and Bluegrass. All these
interests and influences come out in their
original songwriting in a unique way. A
handsome range of instruments like six and
twelve string guitars, slide guitar, Dobro and
the two soulful voices blend together like only
family members can, affecting audiences wherever
they perform.
"This is what acoustic blues
should sound like but so rarely do. Father and
son, David and Adrian Mowry, deliver a
surprisingly soulful performance. Their singing
is tough and controlled and their guitar work is
crisp and mournful." Tune-UP Magazine

December 18th -
8pm Hickory Project &
RUNA co-bill
What
started as a routine experiment has turned into
a revolutionary project, henceforth known as
The Hickory Project. The band
features hard–driving traditional and original
acoustic music with the expert licks
of National Mandolin Champion Anthony
Hannigan Steve Belcher, David Cavage and Dan
Shipe, Coleman Smith, Mark Morris, Craig Vance
and Billy Gilmore
The
Hickory Project is globally acclaimed. They have
captivated audiences throughout Europe, both the
main land and Celtic Isles, Australia and all
through the US. As musical ambassadors
Hickory Project is taking their music
worldwide.
Drawing on the
diverse musical backgrounds of its band members,
Runa brings a contemporary and refreshing
experience to traditional and more recently
composed Celtic material. Through their
repertoire of both highly energetic and graceful
acoustic melodies, along with their fusion of
music from Ireland, Scotland, Shetland Islands,
Canada, and the United States, this vocal and
instrumental ensemble give their traditional
songs and tunes a fresh
sound.
